John Mahama revealed it is an opportunity for Africa to increase food production and so if that aid stops coming Africa will make the investments.

Speaking at the MSC Townhall in Munich, John Mahama stated, “The Trump playbook is still playing out, and so we want to see where it heads towards, but I was just reading US farmers are beginning to complain because USAID was the biggest mopper of excess food for food aid to Africa and USAID is not doing the auction the mops up the excess US foods and so the US farmers are complaining.

But it is an opportunity for Africa to increase food production and so if that aid stops coming we will make the investments that are necessary to make our farmers more productive so that we can establish food security in Africa instead of waiting for those USAID handouts to come”, he added.

Meanwhile, President Mahama before the meeting ordered  Ato Forson the Finance Minister to bridge the $156m USAID frozen by US President Donald Trump.

According to a statement from the presidency, John Mahama expressed deep concern over the funding gap estimated at $156 million.

The Donald Trump administration has frozen the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) which has sparked mayhem around the world.

Many health professionals worldwide have voiced their disappointment and concern over the freeze of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which distributes tens of billions of dollars worth of overseas aid every year.
