A video has surfaced of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare showing he is down to earth.
In the viral video, IGP Dampare was spotted playing a game of draughts with fellow Ghanaians on a Sunday morning.
In the video shared by EDHUB, the IGP was spotted dressed like an ordinary Ghanaian playing a game of draughts with some other people.
Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium was also spotted in the video and heaped praises on IGP Dampare for being the best IGP in Ghana, he noted that all Police in Ghana their Pope John Paul is IGP Dampare.
According to Appiah Stadium, if he were the President of Ghana, IGP Dampare would maintain for 120 years as IGP.
However, there have been rumours of a possible removal of IGP Dampare, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak Minister for Interior has reiterated that the decision to remove or maintain IGP Dampare rests with President John Dramani Mahama.
Muntaka Mohammed revealed that his job as Interior Minister is to recommend to President John Mahama whether or not to maintain IGP Dampare.
The interior minister noted that the question about the removal of the Inspector General of Police keeps coming again despite his answers.
Meanwhile, retired ACP Dr Benjamin Kwasi Agordzo, a Senior Officer of the Ghana Police Service, has labelled George Akuffo Dampare as the “worst” Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Ghana’s history.
The host of the Gumbe Show on TV XYZ, Oheneba Boamah Bennie has also claimed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akufo Dampare is secretly lobbying to be retained as IGP in the John Dramani Mahama administration.
IGP Damapre was appointed as the Inspector General of Police of the Ghana Police Service by President Nana Akufo-Addo on 21 July 2021 effective 1 August 2021.
