Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey has revealed familial connections to Clerk of the Appointments Committee, Gifty Jiagge Gobah.
Appearing before the Committee tasked to investigate the chaos that marred the ministerial vetting, he said, “To be truthful to this committee, the clerk in question she is my direct aunty and I am family to the clerk. So, threat of that nature actually affects me myself.”
According to him, it was rather sad for him to sit and watch his aunty being vilified by the minority caucus.
“She was called a partisan person and they said they will deal with her and all that in the full glare of the camera. Are you inciting your people against my family to be lynched or to be killed?” he queried.
He described incidents on the day as devastating to him.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP condemned the minority for insulting an innocent clerk who had worked in parliament for “19 good years without doing anything but taking instructions from the chair.”
This revelation has sparked reactions from Ghanaians who now question the allegiance of the clerk.
Some claim Afenyo-Markin’s claims of her being partisan were true after all.
