A video has surfaced of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Aowin Oscar Fosu Larbi being banished by the Traditional Council over galamsey.
In the video shared on social media the Council, led by Chief of Omanpe, Nana Oppong Payin III, banished the Member of Parliament by pouring Libation and slaughtering a sheep.
According to the Traditional Council, the Member of Parliament has allegedly fabricated false accusations against their paramount Chief and other Chiefs in the Aowin Traditional area.
The Chiefs added that Oscar Ofori Larbi can no longer regard him as their MP and stated that the government should channel any developmental projects through the Western Regional Minister or yet-to-be-appointed Municipal Chief Executive.
Chiefs and elders of the Aowin constituency have claimed their member of parliament is actively involved in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
The member of parliament has categorically denied any involvement in galamsey.
According to him, It is a calculated attempt to tarnish his image and he will be vindicated.
Speaking to the media in reaction to the claims, the MP stated, “What they are saying is bluntly not true. It is false. It is a calculated attempt to tarnish my image”.
“The northerners the traditional authorities are claiming I have brought to come and do illegal mining, after this report, I will be vindicated because these groups are party members and they were introduced to this task force of illegal mining by the same traditional authorities”, he added.
