A motorbike rider has reportedly been crashed to death by a train, whilst attempting to cross the railway tracks at Avenor.
According to reports, the unfortunate incident occurred around 5:30 Pm yesterday 24 February 2025.
The information gathered reveals the victim died immediately at the spot of the incident.
Authorities have been contacted as efforts are made to trace any known relatives for identification and collection of the body.
In a video shared by SIKAOFFICIAL, the Motorbike rider was captured being crushed by the moving train as he attempted to cross the railway tracks at Avenor.
Residents in the area were later spotted gathered around the motorbike rider as he lay dead on the railway tracks.
A narrator in the video was heard saying, “The train has killed the boy, it is serious, he is dead, he didn’t hear that the train was coming”.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have expressed their emotions, one stated on X, “ Yes, the deceased rider may have been negligent, but let’s address the real issue here, why isn’t there a proper barrier to stop vehicles when a train is crossing?
How many more lives need to be lost before basic safety measures are put in place? And let’s not forget, the roads in Greater Accra are practically death traps at night with no working streetlights”.
“This is sad but sometimes these riders are too much in a hurry. They always feel they can easily manoeuvre through tight places”, another stated.
Another user stated, “Majority of these young boys ride these little bikes like they are racers or jungle bikes. They have very little regard for their own lives and that of others. I support formalizing Okada because I’ve seen it done nicely in Rwanda which means it is doable”.
One user also claimed the motorrider might have had something in his ears not to hear the train coming, “ He might have had something in his ears or the helmet… people think train doesn’t work and just cross anyhow. But don’t they have the barrier there again that blocks when the train is passing?”
