Communications Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku has made some disturbing comments about the ongoing Bawku conflict.
According to her, the nation should leave the conflicting Bawku factions to their fate and let them slaughter themselves to eradication.
She argued that when the ethnicities are wiped from the face of the earth, the government can then use their lands to cultivate food crops to feed Ghana.
Speaking about the Bawku conflict, she said, “They are siblings, if they want, they should keep fighting. It will get to a point the nation will be tired of them and we will leave them to their fate. They should fight and kill themselves then we will use their lands to plant maize and millet to feed Ghana.”
She further expressed surprise at the warring factions, saying the present generation do not even know the genesis of the conflict but are still fighting and killing themselves over ancient matters.
There have been several casualties, including the killing of children and families in the ongoing conflict in Bawku and along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway.
Despite intensified efforts by security forces to quell the unrest and safeguard commuters, armed assailants continue to unleash deadly attacks, deepening fear and uncertainty among residents and travelers in the region.
There has been an escalation of violence following the resurgence of a long-standing chieftaincy conflict, sparked by the return of rival chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre from exile.
Abagre fled Bawku after an arrest warrant was issued against him following his contested installation as chief in Nalerigu, a High Court ruling in Kumasi on October 17, 2024, nullified the warrant, allowing him to resurface.
