Fear has gripped immigrant members of the Church of Pentecost USA Inc. Jehovah Jireh Temple in Columbus, Ohio, over the crackdown on illegal immigrants by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Undocumented immigrants in the United States Of America are facing mass deportation exercises by the Donald Trump administration.
Trump has vowed to oversee the largest deportation programme in US history and has revealed criminals and gang members will be prioritised in such raids.
According to reports from the Church of Pentecost in North Columbus, Ohio, parking lots have become emptier than usual for their services.
The Pastor Mr Samuel Koomson revealed it is tied to fear of going out because they are afraid of being deported.
He noted that 50 percent of his congregants have stopped attending church services.
Pastor Samuel Koomson added that people are more afraid of getting deported than come eat as their food pantry has suffered a 70 percent drop off.
Pastor Samuel Koomson stated, “The State gives as food to give to them, the community comes, those who are not even members would come and take the food. Now we put the food out there they are not coming. All we can do now is to pray”.
Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs has revealed that only 156 Ghanaians are facing deportation from the US, not 6,200 as claimed by reports.
