Chairman of the Parliamentary ad-hoc committee investigating the vetting chaos Emmanuel Bedzrah has revealed the probe into the Appointments Committee chaos on January 30, 2025, will continue on Friday, February 7, 2025.
On Wednesday, February 5 the proceeding of the ad-hoc committee was halted Initially attributed to a directive from Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.
It has now emerged that the Speaker was unaware of the decision, which instead came from the Clerk of Parliament.
In an interview with JOY FM the chairman of the committee Emmanuel Bedzrah stated, “I need to meet with my committee members this morning. We agreed to have a meeting at 3 O’clock by then I would have received some information from the speaker. So, for today, there won’t be any public hearings. We will continue tomorrow [Friday, February 7]”.
“…The speaker called and said, ‘No, we cannot stop this work, we should continue, and he has given direct instruction to the clerk that we should continue”, he added.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Bedzrah has pointed a finger at the minority for the halt of the public hearing.
The Chairman of the special committee revealed, “Honestly, this whole stoppage came from the Minority side. I can tell you on authority”.
