A mother and her three children have tragically lost their lives after a fire consumed their home in Gyinyaase, a suburb of the Asokwa Municipality in the Ashanti region.

According to reports the, mother who lost her life is a health worker identified as Linda Agyemang, who worked as a nurse at the Kumasi South Hospital.

Her three children, aged between 7 and 14, also died in a fire incident in Kumasi.

It is reported that the fire incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 8, 2025.

The family of four could not survive the inferno that gutted their three-bedroom apartment in the Gyinyasi suburb, Saturday dawn.

A co-tenant, Owusu George recounting the incident revealed, “My wife woke me up around 3.30 am to inform me about the fire. I rushed to the scene and heard the children screaming for help. While attempting to break the door, I heard a loud explosion from the kitchen area.

“I suspect it may be a gas cylinder. Another person joined me to try breaking the window area to take the children out but our attempt was not successful”, he added.

The deceased bodies have been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service has commenced its investigation.
