Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed has reacted to members of the minority caucus wearing black and red to parliament on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
According to the MP, the minority were simply mourning the death of their party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“But for them to be in Black, I think that it was just mourning the demise of the NPP,” Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed said on Starr FM.
The Minority Caucus in Parliament have worn red and black attires to protest the suspension of three (3) of their Members of Parliament (MP) ahead of parliamentary on Tuesday.
Their clothing symbolized their disagreement with Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to suspend three (3) of their Member of Parliament for two weeks.
The MPs who presented a united front had their plea heard as the Speaker reinstated the affected MPs after a plea by the Minority leader which was backed by the Majority.
The three NPP MPs suspended were; Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Jerry Ahmed Shaib- MP for Weija-Gbawe and Alhassan Tampuli Sulemana-MP for Gushegu.
Their suspension came after they were seen as principal instigators in the scuffle which at the Appointments Committee resulted in the destruction of equipment and property of parliament.
