John Ankomah Boateng a 36-year-old teacher has been jailed 10 years for stealing over GH₵238,550.

Reports suggest the 36-year-old stole over GH₵238,550 from the Bosomefreho Rural Bank Ltd using the GhanaPay app.

It has emerged that between February 9th and February 26th 2024, Boateng fraudulently withdrew a total of GH₵238,550 using the GhanaPay app despite his account having a balance of only GHS 2.23.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to the crime and disclosed he transferred various sums to some individuals for safekeeping.

₵10,000 to one Isaac, ₵5,000 to Kwaku, ₵20,000 to Duah and ₵5,000 to one Neymar.

He also confessed to transferring ₵40,000 to a travel agent to process travel documents for him.
