President John Dramani Mahama says the rather fast approval of his ministerial nominees, is a step in the right direction for a quick reset of Ghana towards development.
The President made this known during his inaugural State of the Nation Address (SONA) held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 in parliament where he commended the efforts of legislators to ensure the swift approval of ministers.
Mahama touted the move as ‘unmatched’ in the history of the Fourth republic and does well in “demonstrating the strides we can make when we come together in our dedication to serve the people of our great country.” he said to legislators.
The President called for a swift approval of the deputy ministers who are presently facing Parliament’s vetting committee which he said will ensure efficiency in government rule.
“I believe that a similar dispatch will be applied to the approval process of my deputy ministerial nominees. This will enable them to promptly assume office and assist their ministers in delivering our noble vision of resetting our dear nation. the President said.
President John Mahama will deliver his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, Thursday, February 27, since assuming office for a second term.
The highly anticipated speech is expected to set the tone for his administration’s ambitious “Resetting Ghana” agenda, aimed at reviving the economy, creating jobs, and restoring stability.
With Ghana grappling with economic distress, rising inflation, and high unemployment, Mahama’s address is seen as a defining moment to reassure citizens and outline clear solutions.
His 24-hour economy policy, a cornerstone of his economic strategy, is expected to take centre stage as a game-changing initiative to drive industrial growth, boost productivity, and create sustainable employment opportunities.
Mahama’s address is expected to reassure Ghanaians as the country grapples with economic hardship, food inflation, and unemployment.
Also, the President will be expected to address the numerous concerns raised over his decision to terminate appointments made into the public sector after the December 7, 2024 general elections.
The State of the Nation Address, SONA, is vital for promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance, while also setting the national agenda and promoting unity and dialogue among citizens.
SONA, is a crucial event in Ghana’s political calendar, offering the Head of State or Government an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s progress, challenges, and future direction.
