The minority leader Afenyo Markin has fired shots at the Clark of Appointments Committee Gifty Jiagge-Gobah.

Afenyo Markin stated, “Don’t mistreat us, the fact that we are in the minority, we have helped you no opposition has ever helped a government form its government as quickly as possible, this partisan clerk when I was a majority leader you insisted the minority must be heard, shame on you, shame, get out, we don’t want you here, we don’t need you as a clerk”.
Sam George reacting on social media wrote on X, “ “ I am appalled at the despicable behaviour of @AfenyoMarkin towards Madam Gifty Jiagge Gobah – the Clerk to the Appointments Committee of @parliament_gh.
This shameful behaviour is unbecoming of a Leader of the august House. I am absolutely certain he would not have dared to do this to a male Clerk of Parliament”, he added.
The minister-designate added, “Madam Gifty Gobah has been a staff of Parliament for 18 years and deserves the respect her office commands. Such misogynistic and narcissistic behaviour must be roundly condemned by all well-meaning members of society and Parliament itself”.
Sam George further called on the Clerk of Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror to formally raise the issue with Rt. Hon Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.
“The Clerk of Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, must formally raise the issue with Rt. Hon @askbagbin, Speaker of Parliament. After the House has passed the Affirmative Action Law, we cannot condone and be complicit in such uncouth behaviour”, his statement added.
