Dr Clement Apaak the Deputy Education Minister nominee has boldly stated Schools under trees do not befit the status and age of Ghana.
According to Dr Clement Apaak, it is a national disgrace that undermines Ghana’s development.
He noted that as Ghana’s population expand and more kids are being produced adequate school facilities have not been created to match the growth.
Appearing before the appointment Committee on Tuesday, February 25, Dr Apaak stated, “The spectacle of schools under trees does not befit the status and age of our nation.”
“This unfortunate reality is largely a result of our inability to keep pace with the growing demand for educational infrastructure. As our population expands, we continue to produce more children, but we are not matching this growth with adequate school facilities”, Dr Apaak detailed.
He further added, “We must come together, even in these challenging times, to find the necessary resources to eliminate schools under trees. Education is a right, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure every child has access to proper learning facilities”.
The deputy Education minister nominee further stated if he had his own pot of resources he would pay teachers more than any other group of professionals.
According to Dr Clement Apaak, he honestly believes that teachers are the most important in the scheme of affairs.
He asserted that everyone present at the vetting proceedings is a product of teachers’ hard work and dedication.
Dr Apaak stated, “I honestly believe that teachers are the most important in the scheme of affairs; all of us here gathered are products of teachers,” the Deputy Minister nominee stated.
“If I had my own pot of resources, I would pay teachers more than any group of professions, but I don’t”, he added.
