The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially revealed it is investigating the former NPA boss Mustapha Hamid over alleged GH¢1.3bn fraud at the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
Kissi Agyebeng at a press conference on Wednesday, February 12 made this known.
The NPA has been accused of misappropriating funds from the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF), which is a mechanism designed to stabilise petroleum prices across the country.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor stated, “The OSP has commenced investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses in respect of an alleged embezzlement of GH¢1.3 billion from the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF) at the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
“The investigation primarily targets the following persons: the coordinator of the UPPF, Jacob Amoah, NPA’s staff Wendy Ashong Newman, NPA’s staff Freda Tandoh, and a former Chief Executive of the NPA, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid”, he added.
The former NPA boss was appointed to the NPA from 2021 to 2024.
Meanwhile, the OSP in the same press conference declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive.
The OSP has declared him a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.
Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
