The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied claims from the Special Prosecutor that former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta is a “fugitive”.
The party held a press conference on Thursday, February 13, 2025 to address the claim of the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.
Addressing the press, National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) described the description of the OSP as “unreasonable.”
“Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta can never be a fugitive. He is not a fugitive, and he will never be a fugitive. The OSP got it wrong,” he stated.
According to him, the allegation against Ken Ofori-Atta are “sensational statements” seeking to create unnecessary drama in the country.
He assured the OSP that the former minister would return to the country to assist with the investigation once he had completed his medical treatment in the USA.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng declared Ken Ofori-Atta wanted yesterday, February 12, 2025.
The OSP is currently investigating four major cases involving Ofori-Atta’s tenure as finance minister; National Cathedral Procurement Scandal, Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) Contract, ECG-Beijing Jao Contract, Health Ministry’s Ambulance Procurement Deal.
Ken Ofori-Atta is reportedly out of the country seeking medical attention. The OSP has ordered him to immediately return to Ghana for questioning.
