The former member of Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong’s communication team has has threat to sue Gabby Otchere Darko’s Asaase radio.
According to Kennedy Agyapong’s communication team a report by Asaase FM falsely claimed the former member of parliament was MP was denied entry to the Prempeh Assembly Hall during the Ashanti Region Council of State elections.
Agyapong’s communication team has denied those reports describing it as completely inaccurate.
They revealed that Kennedy Agyapong was warmly greeted and invited to enter; however, he ultimately chose to leave of his own accord.
Agyapong ‘s team are demanding an immediate retraction and public apology from the reporter, warning that a lawsuit will be taken if their demands are not met.
They have accused Asaase reporter of deviating from journalistic ethics and calculated twisting of the facts to damage Agyapong’s character.
In an official statement released by the communication team, they stated, “In what can only be described as a flagrant deviation from journalistic ethics, a reporter from Asaase FM published a grossly inaccurate and misleading account of events this afternoon”.
They also claimed that at no point was Hon. Kennedy Agyapong denied entry into the Prempeh Assembly Hall.
According to them, upon arriving at the venue, Kennedy Agyapong exchanged pleasantries with several notable persons including Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Appiah Stadium.
Meanwhile, there were several reports that Prominent members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been denied entry to the Prempeh Assembly Hall, the venue for the re-run of the Ashanti Regional Council of State elections.
Former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and former Bantama MP, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, were both turned away by police and refused access to the voting hall because they lacked accreditation.
MP for Kwadaso, Kingsley Nyarko, and the former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong who were among those denied access to the main auditorium, where the voting was taking place.
When these bigwigs got to the premises, they attempted entry but were refused by police officers who insisted they would not allow persons without accreditation into the voting centre.
The 4 NPP party faithful left the scene quietly without putting up any resistance.
Security at the Prempeh Assembly Hall has been tight as they seek to prevent violent clashes which marred the main elections last week.
The police have stationed a water cannon and mounted barriers all around the voting centre in a bid to ensure peace.
Reports suggest that heavily built men disrupted the voting process in the Ashanti Region last week destroying Electoral Commission (EC) materials and physically attacking some journalists.
