A video has surfaced of a hilarious moment of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II displaying his nobility by clearing a man’s GH¢500 fine.
In a video shared on the social media platform X, by EDHUB, the accused man was seen brought before the Asantehene at a public hearing.
The accused’s charge was read out to the man and was fined, the Asantehene realising the man could not settle the fine stated in Twi which translates as, “My friend can’t afford it.” The Aasntehene’s comment followed a large burst of laughter from those who had gathered at the hearing.
Reacting to the Otumfuo nobility some Ghanaians under the post wrote, “We tend to give Otumfour sticks a lot but the truth is Nana is a great king, one that is in touch with his people, one that has love and compassion for them and one that knows how to deal with matters that come before him”.
Another added, “Put everything aside for a second.. I just love how Asantes love, respect and hold their king in high esteem. Look at his subjects behind him, some of them are lawyers and big-time contractors etc. It’s just beautiful”.
“Funny thing is that those sitting around him and serving him are big men in the country”, an additional user wrote.
Additionally, another X user heaped praises on the Asantehe for being merciful, “Otumfour is merciful to his people and the people love him for that… Long live Otumfour 💚”, he wrote.
