Albert Nat Hyde commonly known as Bongo Ideas has paid tribute to the late Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has died at the age of 68.

According to the netizen, Mawuli Semevo was one of the naturally gifted actors Ghana was blessed with.

Bongo Ideas in a post on X wrote, “Mawuli Semevo was one of the naturally gifted actors Ghana was blessed with. Hard to see him lose his life to fire. Now, we have to be watching Akabenezer dems. E hard!”.

According to reports, the sad event happened at the Ridge Hospital on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The late Mawuli Semevo was receiving treatment after suffering burns from a fire accident some week ago.

The celebrated Ghanaian actor was widely regarded for his contributions to Ghanaian theatre and film.

Judith Addison of Beyond Burns International, on February 8, 2025 reported that Mawuli had been involved in a fire accident and was in critical condition.

Judith Addison stated in a Facebook post, “Beyond Burns International got an SOS that something unfortunate has happened. We came here today, and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in a severe fire accident. I came here to see him, and his life is hanging in the balance,”

“He has suffered burns up to 44% of his body. He has respiratory injuries and cannot breathe properly.

This is very serious. From his head to his legs. Everywhere caught fire and he has lost all his hair”, she added.

He leaves behind a legacy of incredible performances that shaped the country’s entertainment industry.

His passing is a significant loss to the creative arts community, with tributes already pouring in from colleagues and fans.

The late Mawuli Semevo was featured in films such as Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, The Good Old Days: The Love of AA and Yolo.
