The former deputy finance minister and member of parliament for Nhyiaeso, Stephen Amoah has revealed that the John Mahama administration has borrowed 59 billion Ghana cedis.
According to Stephen Amoah, in less than 50 days the NDC and Mahama have borrowed 59 billion Ghana cedis which is unprecedented.
He noted that the former president Akufo-Addo left behind a better economy.
Speaking after John Mahama delivered his maiden SONA in parliament, Stephen Amoah stated, “Where did they get the money from in the shortest possible time, they have borrowed almost, 59 billion Ghana cedis, only in 50 days less than two months.
In less than two months Mahama administration has borrowed 59 billion unprecedented, so all that we are telling you is that, Ghanaians have given them the mandate, Ghanaians are expecting them, to treat everyone whether they are from the North, South, or Central part of Ghana”, he added.
Stephen Amoah further questioned why John Mahama is dismissing Ghanaians employed by the former administration.
“Whether you are Nii Laryea or Kwame Asante, Delali, Amegashie Ghana is one people and one destiny. Why are they even sacking nurses and teachers? We left a better economy”, he stated.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama in his SONA has revealed Ghana’s state of the nation is not good.
According to John Mahama, his administration will solve Ghana’s economic crisis by the end of his four-year term.
The president asserted that he understood why he was elected with such high voter confidence and that was to solve Ghana’s problems.
Delivering his first State of the Nation Address in his second term to Parliament on Thursday, February 27 stated, “ I am sad to report that the State of our nation is not good, our economy is in crisis, and our people are suffering unprecedented hardships.
“It is not my style to lament and shift blame when confronted with challenges. My approach is to accept challenges and work hard to resolve them. Indeed, this is precisely what the people of Ghana elect me to do.
“I have therefore not come here to lament on the state of our country though there is much to lament about. I understand why I was elected with such high voter confidence and that is to solve Ghana’s problems,” Mahama stated.
John Mahama boldly pledged to fix Ghana’s hardship saying, “ I John Dramani Mahama will fix the economic crisis confronting our country and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity.”
“I will confront the economic crisis head-on and reset our country on the path of growth and prosperity, It’s not my style to lament and shift blame when confronted with challenges”, he added.
John Mahama further reaffirmed fixing dumsor, “Mr Speaker, I fixed dumsor. From January 2016 till I handed over power, there was no power rationing, I promised to fix ‘dumsor,’ and I fixed it. There was no power rationing or load management in Ghana”.
