Ellen Ama Daaku, a communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has boldly stated the people of Bawku and Walewale be allowed to fight.
According to Ellen Ama Daaku, the government should allow them to obliterate each other after their lands are used to cultivate maize and millet to feed the country.
The NPP communications asserted that those fighting in the tribal conflicts do not even understand why they are fighting.
She also stated that those fighting in the Bawku and Walewale conflict don’t even know the genesis of the conflict.
Speaking in an interview on Angel TV, Ellen Ama Daaku showed frustration about the renewed tribal conflicts in Bawku and Walewale and stated, “Now that they are family if they like they should fight, it will get to a point the country will suffer and we will leave them for them to fight until they kill each other their lands we will grow maize, millet on them”.
“We will use the land to feed Ghana because that is what they want, why just one conflict those fighting now do not even understand it, they don’t even know where it is from, why?”, she added.
Meanwhile, Irate youth in Walewale have vandalized the North East Regional Minister’s vehicle in protest.
According to reports the youth in Walewale are protesting against a 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM curfew imposed by the Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed.
Reports some few days ago revealed a group of unidentified armed men reportedly launched an attack on a cargo truck in Walewale, in the North East Region setting the vehicle and its contents on fire.
There have also been reports of a five-month-old baby who has sadly lost her life in Bawku.
The government has urged residents to remain calm and seek peaceful solutions. A ban on carrying weapons has also been enforced, with offenders facing arrest and prosecution.
The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has imposed a curfew on Walewale and its environs in the North East Region from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, effective Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Government calls on the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in Walewale and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
