Chairperson of the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor has advised the minority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin to peacefully resign from the Committee is he cannot work with its Clerk.
He stated point blank that neither the minority leader or the minority caucus in itself can determine who should be the Committee’s Clerk.
“If they don’t want to work with the clerk, Gifty Jiagge-Gobah, then in effect they don’t want to work with Appointments Committee,” he revealed in an interview.
As the Chairman of the Committee, Bernard Ahiafor stated categorically that he was on no occasion going to “recommend the removal of the clerk of the committee Gifty Jiagge-Gobah. I won’t do that today and I won’t do that tomorrow.”
Bernard Ahiafor’s strong stance follows the demand for Gifty Jiagge-Gobah removal as Clerk of the Appointments Committee by minority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
Afenyo-Markin described the Clerk as partisan and claimed she was doing the bidding of the NDC.
“She is a typical NDC member. I will report to the Clerk to Parliament to have her removed,” the minority leader threatened.
