Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi has been discharged by the Accra High Court.
The court discharged him after investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas failed to testify in the court.
The Accra High Court presided over by her ladyship Justice Marie-Louise Simmons on Thursday, February 13, 2025, dismissed the case against Kwesi Nyantakyi and Abdulai Alhassan, a former Northern Regional FA chairman because of insufficient evidence from the State.
The State could not adduce sufficient evidence against Nyantakyi and Alhassan because Anas Aremeyaw who was the star witness for the State Prosecutor failed to testify.
Anas Aremeyaw Anas failed to show up in court because the Court of Appeal ruled on January 30, that he was only going to be allowed to testify if he did so without a mask on.
The panel was chaired by Justice Anthony Oppong with Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo and Justice Aboagye Tandoh as other members quashed the High Court ruling and ordered Anas to remove his mask when testifying.
The High Court had ruled on May 17, 2023, that Anas Aremeyaw Anas could be allowed to testify in-camera but on condition that he revealed his face to Kwesi Nyantakyi in chambers.
