Veteran Broadcast journalist Dan Kweku Yeboah has revealed that the former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta was disliked by his own NPP people.
According to Dan Kweku Yeboah, Ken Ofori-Atta’s own people in the NPP do not mention his name in a good light.
He revealed that when Ken Ofori Atta was Finance Minister you had to beg him as a minister before he gave you your budget.
His comments come after the OSP Kissi Agyebeng declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.
Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
Speaking on Peace FM Dan Kwaku Yeboah stated, “If it is now President Mahama has appointed a Special Prosecutor and he is now touching Ken Ofori Atta and the rest I will believe that he just came. But, Kissi Agyebeng has been sitting for a long and is now telling us the investigation takes ten years, if the investigation takes ten years, when you started investigating Ken Ofori Atta you did not call him until today.
You did not call him until his government left, is it the case you were afraid of his government is that what you are telling us? He should stop that for me Ken Ofori Atta his own party people do not mention his name in a good light for me to mention his name in a good light”, he added.
He further added, “If you are a Minister and your budget you did not beg him, he will not give it to you, his own party people dislike him. So I don’t even care about his matter. But for the Special Prosecutor to save the country money but when you go and dig deep ever since the office of the Special Prosecutor was established he has cost Ghana more money than we have gained what is the profit of that office”.
However, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has quizzed the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng what stops him from travelling to question Ken Ofori-Atta.
He noted that Kissi Agyebeng told Ghanaians he travelled to the UK to interview Sam Mahama, John Mahama’s brother, in the Airbus scandal case so what stops him now?
Meanwhile, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader has said the former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta will make himself available for investigations.
