Member of Parliament (MP) for Old Tafo on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vincent Ekow Assafuah says former Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta must suffer the consequences of his actions.
According to him, Ken Ofori-Atta must face the full force of the law if charges brought against him by the OSP are true.
“Let him carry his own cross,” Vincent Assafuah said in an interview with the EIB network.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng declared Ken Ofori-Atta wanted yesterday, February 12, 2025.
The OSP is currently investigating four major cases involving Ofori-Atta’s tenure as finance minister:
1. National Cathedral Procurement Scandal – Scrutiny over financial mismanagement and procurement breaches related to the controversial National Cathedral project.
2. Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) Contract – Investigation into a multi-billion-cedi contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML, signed under Ofori-Atta’s leadership.
3. ECG-Beijing Jao Contract – Probe into the termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Beijing Jao for loss reduction and network improvements.
4. Health Ministry’s Ambulance Procurement Deal – Examination of payments related to a contract awarded to Service Ghana Auto Limited for the procurement and maintenance of 307 ambulances for the National Ambulance Service.
Ken Ofori-Atta is reportedly out of the country seeking medical attention. The OSP has ordered him to immediately return to Ghana for questioning.
