Edudzi Tameklo, the Director of Legal Services of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that former finance minister Ken Ofori Atta instigated the prosecution of Ato Forson in the Ambulance case.
Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine has discontinued the Ato Forson case along with several high-profile cases.
Speaking on TV3’s Key Points, Edudzi Tamakloe detailed, “Ken Ofori-Atta instigated the prosecution and investigation of Ato Forson go and read the Jakpa tape and what they had planned to do to Ato Forson. Do you know what we survived under Akufo-Addo?”
“I kept telling the prosecutors to be careful what they are doing, I know Ato Forson as my client and as a senior brother what he does and what he means for this country, he means well, but you have a situation where a government conspired that at all cost they were going to convict him to prove a point”, he added.
Edudzi Tameklo added, “Look at the extraordinary extent that the then Attorney General Godfred Dame could go just to get a conviction.
We are talking about somebody being sick, my own client under Akufo-Addo who had dialysis for 19 years was put in prison under Akufo-Addo watch what are we talking about”, he revealed.
Meanwhile, the Honorary Vice President of IMANI-Africa has condemned the prosecution of Dr. Ato Forson by the Akufo-Addo’s administration, describing it as the worst abuse of prosecutorial discretion in Ghana’s history.
Bright Simons stated, “I also agree with the discontinuation of the Ato Forson case because I personally investigated the matter as an independent analyst, and it is the worst abuse of prosecutorial discretion we have seen in this country”.
