The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng claims former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has relocated from Ghana.
The OSP revealed this information was conveyed to him by the lawyers of the former minister.
“He (Ofori-Atta) has left the jurisdiction indefinitely and that was what was communicate to us in the first instance and that is his intention. He has no intention of willingly returning to the jurisdiction, that much is clear to us.”
Kissi Agyebeng stated categorically that with Ken Ofori-Atta now considered a fugitive, the office of the OSP “will take all necessary legal steps to secure his return to the jurisdiction and attendance to the OSP.”
“And this is to Mr. Ofori-Atta. You have 2 choices, you can either return to the jurisdiction voluntary or the OSP will force your return,” he added.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng declared Ken Ofori-Atta wanted yesterday, February 12, 2025.
The OSP is currently investigating four major cases involving Ofori-Atta’s tenure as finance minister:
- National Cathedral Procurement Scandal – Scrutiny over financial mismanagement and procurement breaches related to the controversial National Cathedral project.
- Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) Contract – Investigation into a multi-billion-cedi contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML, signed under Ofori-Atta’s leadership.
- ECG-Beijing Jao Contract – Probe into the termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Beijing Jao for loss reduction and network improvements.
- Health Ministry’s Ambulance Procurement Deal – Examination of payments related to a contract awarded to Service Ghana Auto Limited for the procurement and maintenance of 307 ambulances for the National Ambulance Service.
Ken Ofori-Atta is reportedly out of the country seeking medical attention. The OSP has ordered him to immediately return to Ghana for questioning.
