The National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the Ashaiman constituency have vandalised their party office over the alleged neglect of their MP Ernest Norgbey in ministerial appointments.
According to the NDC supporters in Ashaiman President John Mahama promised to offer them appointments.
In a video shared by Metro TV Journalist Vanessa Edotom Boateng, the irate NDC supporters broke the glass door to the NDC office.
A police vehicle with some policemen was later seen at the scene of the disturbance.
The irate NDC supporters asserted that they initially hoped for ministerial or deputy ministerial positions, but most have been filled, they are now seeking Chief Executive Officer (CEO) roles in state institutions.
Meanwhile, speaking in an interview on Adom FM, the constituency’s Organizer, Mark Apetor stated, “We have the men and are ready for the appointments. Off the top of my head, I can mention about 60 people”.
“We have Free Zones, BOST, TOR, GPHA, and other state institutions within the Ashaiman enclave, so any position they assign to us, we are ready to work,” he added.
The constituency’s Organizer, Mark Apetor revealed that disgruntled supporters say they feel marginalized despite their unwavering support for the party since 1992.
Apetor revealed that the irate youth had initially planned a massive demonstration against President Mahama, by blocking traffic on the Accra-Tema Motorway but constituency leaders intervened.
