Black Stars captain, Andre Dede Ayew has revealed that he is still committed to representing Ghana on the international stage.
Although there are uncertainties surrounding his future with the Black Stars, the player is adamant on hanging his boots.
Andre Ayew often been urged to retire from the Black Stars after he led the team to two disastrous African Cup of Nations campaigns in Cameroon and Ivory Coast in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
He played his first international game for Ghana in August 2007 in a friendly against Senegal before earning a starting role at the 2008 AFCON.
The Black Stars captain did not received a call up from Coach Otto Addo to play in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers where Ghana failed to qualify for the tournament in Morocco.
Despite the public commentaries, Andre Ayew ahead of the March international break has said in an interview with the BBC that he is not ready to retire from the Black Stars.
When quizzed about his future with the national team during an interview with BBC Sport Africa, he responded, “I love what I’m doing, and I’m not ready to stop.”
André Ayew has showed he is in good form as evidenced in his performance in the 2024/25 season for Le Havre.
So far, he has scored a couple of goals and played an integral role in the team’s performance this season.
Reports now indicate that Black Stars head coach Otto Addo cannot overlook his season’s performance and is considering giving him a call-up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
