The Fourth Estate is commonly known for its public interest and anti-corruption reporting.

Manasseh Azure Awuni was previously the Editor-in-Chief of the online website.

Manasseh Azure Awuni’s exit from the Fourth Estate follows a series of impactful journalism at the media outlet.

He was awarded the Journalist of the Year at the West Africa Media Excellence Awards in 2019 and 2020.

His recent work with the Fourth Estate exposing the SML Scandal, titled, ‘The GH¢ 3 Billion Lie’, fingered the Ministry of Finance for awarding a $100 million contract to SML to monitor Upstream Petroleum Production and to Audit the value chain of Minerals and Metals Resources.

SML has stated that its upstream operations have not commenced and pointed out that the $100 million per year payment allegation is entirely false.

According to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Adu Owusu-Amoah, and his entire nuclear family have run away from Ghana over the $100 million SML corruption scandal.

The former GRA boss allegedly signed the $100 million SML contract, run from Ghana hours before President Akufo-Addo called for an investigation into the SML scandal.

Manasseh’s exposé had since led to the OSP declaring the former finance minister as a wanted person after he was fingered in the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) scandal.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians under his post have stated, “ From most of the reaction here…it only shows a lot of people had no idea that for more than year or almost 2 years now Manesseh have been pursuing further studies abroad. He had 2 admission, kept one on hold and as soon as he completed the 1st one he went to the next”.

An X user also questioned if he was sacked like he was with the multimedia, “Were you sacked as multimedia sacked you?.  All you do is destroy state institutions and indigenous Ghanaian business people in name of investigative terrorism in exchange of money from western donors. Look what you did John Mahama years back now he is saint because you favors”.

Additionally another user accuse him of feeding the website with fake information, “After feeding them with fake information you are leaving? Where you are going again? No professional media house will employ you with this kind of work you do”.
