Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has made a U-turn on his statement he made during the 2024 campaign season.
According to Maurice Ampaw during the 2024 campaign, he will relocate to Togo if John Mahama becomes president again.
Speaking on GTV Breakfast show on February 4, 2025, Maurice Ampaw revealed it was just a political gimmick.
He asserted that he was not moving to Togo as Ghana is far better.
Maurice Ampaw further added that he does not have even a passport and has never travelled outside Ghana before.
He stated, “You know during the campaign I was on the side of Bawumia, I did a lot of things for the NDC, and I made a lot of political statements, If Mahama wins I will leave for Togo, I will not go, because Ghana is far better than Togo, but it is part of the political gimmick.
In trying to say that it is not possible for Mahama to come, as I sit here I don’t even have a passport, I have never travelled before, and I have been in Ghana for the last 57 years of my life”, he added.
Maurice Ampaw added, “So, for me to say that, I will leave to Togo, it was a political gimmick trying to ginger the people. That no let’s make it happen, and then at the end of the day Mahama proved to me that anything is possible, no I don’t regret the statement it was just political talk”.
