Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament has rejected the assertion that he is treating Honourable Members like students.
His comments comes as the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Lawyer Vincent Ekow Assafuah in a Facebook post wrote, “Parliament is becoming a secondary school where headmaster can summarily dismiss a student a student without due process”.
According to Speaker Bagbin, where there are students, there must be a headmaster.
Addressing the House on Tuesday, February 4, Speaker Bagbin rejected those assertion, “Some members of the House have referred to me as a headmaster, treating Honourable Members like students. I reject that assertion,”
“Where there are students, there must be a headmaster. If you don’t have a headmaster, you know what is going to happen to the school”, the speaker added.
The speaker of parliament further cautioned members of parliament that they were not being called Honourable for nothing and much is expected from them.
“To whom much is given, much is expected, you are not called Honourable for nothing. They expect so much from you. And don’t forget that there is life after Parliament”, he added.
Meanwhile, Alban Bagbin has stated the probe into the vetting chaos will continue despite lifting the suspension on the four members of parliament.
