The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has revealed he felt pity for the NPP presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 general election miserable defeat.
According to Mussah Dankwah, he could see Dr Bawumia’s energy during the campaign, but it was all for nothing due to former president Akufo-Addo’s closeness to Bawumia.
Mussah Dankwah revealed that about 80 percent of voters blamed Nana Addo for the NPP loss in the 2024 elections.
Speaking on Peace FM, Mussah Dankwah detailed, “Let’s be frank, some of the things he was doing and saying, politically speaking, if he was running himself, he would not have done that. Let’s speak the truth, look at the Chiefs issues come on, which chief will tell his people to vote for them after telling them to stand and greet you at a durbar?”.
“I felt pity for Bawumia honestly speaking, I did. You could see the man’s energy in the campaign, but all was for nothing. He could not do anything”, he revealed.
Mussah Dankwah further added that Dr Bawumia tried to move away from Akufo-Addo when he claimed he was merely a mate.
“If you remember those mate arguments, he was trying to in the minds of people to move away from Nana Addo that would have helped if people believed in him, but because they didn’t believe that, they didn’t buy into that”, he added.
He further blamed the former finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta was also to blame for Bawumia’s defeat.
“In terms of personally blaming him, he runs like fourth in the level of a tier of blaming as a person. Ofori Atta comes third, before Bawumia. Nana Addo is the key issue, after him was Bawumia’s closeness to Nana Addo, and then we have Ken Ofori Atta and the Bawumia as a person”, he added.
Meanwhile, the NPP Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore, Dr Ayew Afriyie, has also asserted that Bawumia was punished by the ills of Akufo-Addo.
He noted that the 2024 elections were more like a referendum against the leadership of the Akufo-Addo government and blamed former President Akufo-Addo’s arrogance for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
