Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader has apologised unreservedly to Clerk to the Appointments Committee, Mrs Gifty Jiagge-Gobah.
Before his apology the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin labeled Afenyo-Markin’s approach to reprimanding the Clerk as inappropriate.
The minority leader accused the clerk of the appointments committee of doing the NDC bidding.
Afenyo Markin stated, “Don’t mistreat us, the fact that we are in the minority, we have helped you no opposition has ever helped a government form its government as quickly as possible, this partisan clerk when I was a majority leader you insisted the minority must be heard, shame on you, shame, get out, we don’t want you here, we don’t need you as a clerk”.
Speaking in Parliament on February 4, the Minority Leader said, “If Kwame is saying he knows the family and my outpour, my reaction to the conduct of our clerk has resulted in some trauma to the family, he knows the family I don’t know the family and the lady in question.
Mr Speaker let me unreservedly say to the clerk of the appointment committee, Mrs Gifty Jiagge-Gobah I am sorry, let me also say to her husband, the lovely husband that my comment in respect of an internal matter as a husband is traumatized by this I hereby unreservedly apologise to him as a husband”.
