Alfred Ocansey stated, “Your point is well made, and I think that you know my name. So I wonder why you kept referring to me as a young man, that’s why”.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin later offered a swift apology to Alfred Ocansey.

The minority leader stated, “We are all in this together, if I do something wrong you can criticize me but this insinuation and attack doesn’t create mutual respect at all in my view.

Mr Ocansey, Alfred Ocansey, I apologize to you, take it as an unreserved apology from me I am so sorry, Alfred Ocansey, I am so so sorry, please Alfred”, he stated repeatedly.

Ghanaian businessman and economic policy analyst Senyo Hosi has also praised Afenyo Markin for his swift response to Alfred Ocansey.

Senyo Hosi in a post on X wrote, “ I am impressed by @AfenyoMarkin’s swift apology. That was honourable and statesmanly.

Meanwhile some Ghanaians under the post have expressed their opinion saying, “ Apologizing for calling someone “young man” after using it to belittle them isn’t honorable—it’s just damage control. The NPP has become known for arrogance and acting like they have all the answers. This is just another example of their dismissive attitude toward dissent”.

“Why can’t you people see through this man? How many apologies has he offered since January? It is not statesmanly to devalue people and then apologise. What is statesmanly is to respect people irrespective of your status. Leaders must lead with respect and humility. That is statesmanly”, another stated.

Another user stated, “He used “all sorts of people “ for you guys, and you couldn’t ask him to speak well. He speaks like he is on top of this world. God knows why I am not a politician”.

One user also noted that Afenyo Markin has become a rampant Apology of a leader after he became a minority leader.

“Don’t be impressed like that ok have you taken notice of his reckless apologies nowadays it speaks a lot about his utterance and character after his assumptions of Minority Leader….it’s becoming so rampant Apology of a leader 🙃”, the user wrote.
