Bernard Antwi Bosiako the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) commonly known as Chairman Wontumi has revealed he is not backing down as he remains resolute in becoming NPP National Chairman.
It will be recalled that earlier this week Lawson TV/FM morning show host, Kwame Tanko revealed that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman Wontumi plans to contest for the NPP National Chairman position.
According to Kwame Tanko, Chairman Wontumi in a phone conversation with him yesterday revealed his plans to run for the NPP national chairmanship position to rescue the party and capture power in the 2028 elections.
Speaking in an interview with 3 News Chairman Wontumi reiterated, “I am not backing down as is being speculated, I still remain resolute in becoming the next National Chairman. There was a general apathy, and you cannot blame Wontumi for that. Even in our worse performance, tell me one region that beat the Ashanti Region”
“Everybody knows how I campaigned in the lead-up to the last election. I never slept, visiting people’s homes at odd hours; Look, I spent a lot to ensure our party won power but unfortunately, it didn’t happen. I did it for the party in 2016, and I am poised to do it again in 2028,” he revealed.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that former president Akufo-Addo, the immediate past NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Chairman Wontumi are currently in London.
