President John Dramani Mahama has said he is determined his government lay the foundation and put Ghana on the right track.
According to John Mahama, although they may not complete the process he is determined to put Ghana on the right track for anybody who takes over to continue and consolidate it.
President Mahama further added that amending the constitution holding people accountable, stabilizing the economy and creating jobs for the youth are the top priorities.
President Mahama speaking to his appointees stated, “So, amending the constitution holding people accountable, for the public trust, and making sure that we stabilize the economy and create the opportunity for our young people to work as quickly as possible that is the task ahead of us.
We may not be able to complete the process but at least I am determined that we lay the foundation and put Ghana on the right track anybody else who takes over can continue and consolidate it”, he added.
President Mahama further stated that those who serve in leadership must lead by example and must be prepared to be held accountable.
He also noted that people are running around asking people if they have gotten a green letter from the president and added that the green letter comes with a lot of responsibility and expectation.
“Those of us in leadership must lead by example, we must be prepared to be held accountable for taking the public trust and as I have told everybody if you accept to serve in the public sector then you must be prepared to answer to the people, because it is the people who put you there, you serve at their pleasure”.
President Mahama reiterated that as they hold those who came before them accountable his appointees should remember that they are also going to be held accountable.
“So, I have been trying to drum that home to all the people that I am appointing, everybody is excited and running have you gotten a green letter from the president? The green letter comes with a lot of responsibility and expectation and I have said that while we hold those who came before us accountable we should remember that we are also going to be held accountable the same way”, he added.
