The majority leader in parliament Mahama Ayariga has said the minority leader Afenyo Markin must be held accountable for not questioning the Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Akweley Ocloo .
It will be recalled the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Alexander Afenyo-Markin disclosed that government representatives personally appealed to the Minority to refrain from questioning the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo, during her vetting session.
According to Mahama Ayariga, after he was nominated a majority leader he ceased to be a member of the appointment committee, so he cannot tell if the minority were begged not to scrutinise Linda Ocloo.
Speaking on the GTV Breakfast show in an exclusive interview, Mahama Ayariga detailed, “Is he suggesting he compromised standards because as a minority leader you have an obligation to do your work well, if he sits on television and says that, he was begged not to do his work, and he didn’t do his work, we should hold him accountable”.
When asked if the minority were begged not to scrutinise Linda Ocloo he stated, “I wasn’t there I don’t know what happened if you noticed after I was nominated a majority leader I ceased to be a member of the appointment committee so I stopped attending, I only zoomed in when there was trouble and I needed to rush there and help them resolve it.
Otherwise most of it, I wasn’t there, I heard it on Television and radio, I actually don’t know how long it took because I wasn’t there, I don’t know what happened, like I said it is up to you, if you want to ask her questions you ask her if you decide not to ask her you can go on television and be saying she begged”, he added.
