Financial analyst and economist Scott Bolshevik has quizzed Ghanaians on whether they have used the electric buses introduced by the former vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Scott Bolshevik further quizzed if the electric buses were another deception by Dr Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party.
Scott Bolshevik, known for his constant analysis of issues relating to Ghana on social media platform X, particularly on the Ghanaian economy, on his X page and wrote, “Have any Ghanaians actually used these electric buses, or was this just another deception by Bawumia and the NPP to win 2024 election?”
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on November 27, 2024, unveiled the country’s first fleet of battery-electric buses.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the naysayers as usual said it was not possible when they made the announcement. Still, they insisted that if other countries could deploy electric buses to make life easier for their citizens, why not Ghana?
In a social media post on X, Dr Bawumia wrote, “The introduction of the electric buses, fulfills our promise to introduce new measures to significantly cut down the cost of public transportation, which is part of our broader vision to bring down the cost of living”.
“With the new buses powered through charging its electric system, and not through fuel, its operational cost will be reduced significantly, thus, also reducing the cost of public transport by 40% to 50%”, he wrote on X.
The vice president also asserted that the new era is not only for government buses, but it also presents an opportunity for private-owned bus and trotro services, for cheaper operational cost, when we fully roll out the program with electric charging spots across various places in Accra cities.
He further wrote, “With a mindset of possibility, we will, together, make many things possible and transform our country”.
