Bright Simons, the Honorary Vice President of IMANI-Africa has said for Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) to succeed it must be a a genuine effort to uphold justice, not a political tool.

According to  Bright Simons, there is a palpable sense of excitement among Ghanaians regarding Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL).

Bright Simons noted that many Ghanaians are excited that public funds that may have been looted or misused will be recovered.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile show on Saturday, “There is a palpable sense of excitement among Ghanaians regarding ORAL,”

“The idea that public funds that may have been looted or misused will be recovered resonates strongly with many people, especially in these challenging economic times.”

“For ORAL to succeed, it must be seen as a genuine effort to uphold justice rather than a political tool”, he added.

On February 10, 2025, the ORAL team submitted their final report to President John Mahama, who has since directed the Attorney General for further actions.

The chairman of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed that with just 36 cases, Ghana can potentially recover $ 20.49 billion in stolen state resources.

Meanwhile, President John Mahama has stated every pesewa recovered from Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) will be channelled back into national development.

According to John Mahama, the recommendations of the report will be carefully studied, and where legal action and investigations are needed, they will be pursued without fear or favour.

He also boldly declared Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption.

According to John Mahama, those who think they can defraud the state and escape justice, Ghana is no longer a safe haven for them.
