The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), Vincent Opare, has dispelled rumors about the group not supporting their ace broadcaster Kofi Adomah after he suffered an eye injury earlier this year.
In an interview on Angel FM, Vincent Opare addressed claims in the media space that the Angel Broadcasting Network and the CEO of Angel Group of Companies, Dr. Kwaku Oteng, only contributed a mere GHS 10,000 to support the treatment of Kofi Adomah.
He revealed that that ABN and Dr. Kwaku Oteng gave over $47,000 to Kofi Adomah to support his treatment in Dubai.
He gave a breakdown of the amount saying, “ABN and Dr. Kwaku Oteng provided Kofi Adomah with GHS 110,000 for his initial screening and an additional $40,000 to proceed with the surgery.”
He also added that aside from the cash, the ABN group and its group head have provided emotional support to the broadcaster all this while.
Reports emerged in the latter part of January that Kofi Adoma suffered severe injury to the eye after being shot in the eye.
According to Kofi Adomah’s wife, he received a call from a Dormaa native to come and take a coverage of Dormaahene’s traditional event.
She narrated, “My husband and his people reached their destination and were given a hotel to sleep and it was led by Dormaahene’s niece Linda on their arrival.
The next day…they went to the event. The traditional gun that was supposed to be Shot in the skies Shot in the crowd and unfortunately, it hit my husband’s face and even the camera he was using to cover the event was spoilt”.
After the accident, Kofi Adomah was rushed to the hospital by lost sight in both eyes. He was later rushed to Dubai where he is receiving treatment and has restored sight in one of his eyes.
