The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), has threatened a strike action over the appointment of one Samuel Adom Botchway to the Births & Deaths Registrar.
According to CLOGSAG, Samuel Adom Botchway is a known NDC activist I cannot be appointed due to a Supreme Court ruling on neutrality.
They further added that they will cooperate with the government to ensure that the civil and local government offices are devoid of a politically coloured person.
Speaking during a press conference spokesperson for CLOGSAG stated, “The information available to CLOGSAG indicates that one Samuel Adom Botchway has been appointed as the registrar of the Births & Deaths registry.
This Samuel Adom Botchway is a known activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and was one the District Chief executive in the Central region”, they stated.
CLOGSAG further added, “We are pleading with His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as a matter of urgency to withdraw his appointment because it violates the Supreme Court ruling on neutrality in 2017.
CLOGSAG will have no other alternative than to request its members not to work with him and subsequently, lay down our tools, we want to state that, CLOGSAG will fully cooperate with the government to ensure that the civil and local government offices are devoid of a politically coloured person”, they stated boldly.
They further urged the Births & Deaths Registrary to resist infiltration by politicians.
