The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has rejected claims made in the Chronicle newspaper suggesting he was fighting President John Dramani Mahama over an appointment snub.
According to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the Chronicle and Daily Guide fabricate stories when they don’t see you in public.
Asiedu Nketiah revealed he has been busy with party work and has been receiving a lot of people in his office because of the appointments.
According to the Chronicle newspaper, Asiedu Nketiah is irate about the president snubbing his recommended candidates for government positions after he played a fundamental role in the NDC’s 2024 victory by touring almost every corner of the country.
Reports coming from the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) have also revealed President Mahama has snubbed a list from the Chairman of the party.
The happening has supposedly generated tension within the party, with several constituency executives going to see Asiedu Nketiah in his office to express their displeasure with the president’s appointments.
Speaking in an interview on Otec FM, Asiedu Nketiah stated, “I have been busy with party matters. My offices have been full, and I attend to people every day because of the appointments”.
“I saw a publication claiming that the General and President Mahama are fighting and that this is why I have not been seen in public. You know, The Chronicle and Daily Guide, I don’t even grant them interviews”, he added.
The Chairman of the NDC added, “So if they don’t see you in public for a while, they fabricate stories and put them out there.”
Meanwhile, John Mahama before making his appointments revealed that thousands of CVs had been sent for ministerial appointments under his government.
He sent a warning signal that definitely some people will be disappointed, but it is not only by playing a role at that level that can you contribute to the success of the government.
