The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Lawyer George Opare Addo, has assured Ghanaians the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not renege on promises made them during the 2024 campaign period.
“We are on track and we will deliver to the good people of this country every promise we made to them,” he told the media.
His response followed a question asked on the promises of job creation through the 24-hour economy promised.
Urging the Ghanaian youth to remain optimistic and exercise patience with the government, he indicated that a secretariat has been set up to see to it that the 24-hour economy comes to pass.
“A whole secretariat has been setup headed by the venerable Goosie Tandoh to see to it that the 24-hour economy comes to pass,” he stated.
According to George Opare Addo, the government is waiting on passing a legislation on the 24-hour policy.
“The legislation is part of the 120 days promise. Once the legislation is passed we will begin to roll out. In today’s meeting Goosie Tandoh was part and this issue was part of the agenda. Be patient with us, we’ve barely been in office less than a month. I have been in office for barely 2 weeks. We are on track and we will deliver to the good people of this country every promise we made to them,” he reiterated.
The 24-hour Economy is a deliberate policy intervention promised by the NDC/Mahama government to encourage and support certain businesses and companies to operate 24/7, preferably in a three-shift system of 8 hours each, by creating an enabling environment that promotes productivity, competitiveness and well-paying jobs.
