The information gathered from the Chronicle newspaper suggests that the National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress Asiedu Nketiah is shockingly fighting President John Dramani Mahama over an appointment snub.
According to the Chronicle newspaper, Asiedu Nketiah is irate about the president snubbing his recommended candidates for government positions after he played a fundamental role in the NDC’s 2024 victory by touring almost every corner of the country.
Reports coming from the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) have also revealed President Mahama has snubbed a list from the Chairman of the party.
It has also been revealed that Asiedu Nketiah has reported President Mahama to the NDC’s party’s elders with a crisis meeting scheduled to address the growing tension.
The information gathered also suggests the crisis meeting will also be attended by the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to find prompt action to determine the developing dispute between President Mahama and Chairman Asiedu Nketia.
The happening has supposedly generated tension within the party, with several constituency executives going to see Asiedu Nketiah in his office to express their displeasure with the president’s appointments.
Meanwhile, there have been reports of agitated constituents over the John Mahama snub of their members of parliament, just last week the NDC Constituents in Ashaiman protested against the snub of their Member of Parliament, Ernest Henry Norgbey in Ministerial appointments.
According to the NDC supporters, the NDC leadership promised to offer them appointments.
However, John Mahama before making his appointments revealed that thousands of CVs had been sent for ministerial appointments under his government.
He sent a warning signal that definitely some people will be disappointed, but it is not only by playing a role at that level that can you contribute to the success of the government.
Speaking during a Presidential dinner in his honour John Mahama detailed, “I cannot do this work alone, so I have to select some people to join me, to be able to deliver the reset that we have promised Ghanaians, it is coming at a time when Ghanaians expected a reduction in the size of government, so you won’t want to be in my shoes when we promised to appoint only sixty ministers”.
“There are thousands of people sending their CVs, definitely some people will be disappointed, but it is not only by playing a role at that level that you can contribute to the success of the government, there are many other things we can all do”, he added.
President Mahama has so far made a significant number of ministerial nominations and also named some CEOs and MDs of some State institutions.
