Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor has insisted that Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin offers an unqualified apology to the Clerk of the Committee, Gifty Jiagge-Gobah.
He chastised Afenyo-Markin for public criticizing the Clerk if he was displeased by her actions.
According to him, Afenyo-Markin could have used the proper approach by reporting her conduct to the Clerk of Parliament, rather than making a public outburst.
“I know that when the clerk has done something that I am not happy about, there is a channel that I should take it to. That is to take it up with the Clerk of Parliament but not to behave like the way he did. It is uncalled for.”
Bernard Ahiafor indicated that Afenyo-Markin erred in his approach and asked him to render an apology to the Gifty Jiagge-Gobah.
“He must render an apology to the clerk of the Committee. The clerk of the Committee deserves an apology. Because she doesn’t deserve those words to used.”
Bernard Ahiafor’s demand comes after Afenyo-Markin publicly called for the removal of Gifty Jiagge-Gobah’s as Clerk of the Appointments Committee by minority leader.
Afenyo-Markin described the Clerk as partisan and claimed she was doing the bidding of the NDC.
“She is a typical NDC member. I will report to the Clerk to Parliament to have her removed,” the minority leader threatened.
