Albert Nat Hyde commonly known as Bongo Ideas has teased the former Akufo-Addo Bawumia government.
According to Bongo Ideas, the former Akufo-Addo Bawumia government would have told Ghanaians that the economy had been by the US mass deportation exercise.
He asserted that they would have introduced a new tax for Ghanaians to pay called the deportation tax.
Bongo Ideas’ comments come as the former NPP government maintained the COVID tax and also blamed external factors like the Russian-Ukraine war for the bad economy of Ghana.
He wrote on Facebook, “Anka by now you go hear say the deportation has affected the economy nti we have to pay deportation tax”.
Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs has revealed that only 156 Ghanaians are facing deportation from the US, not 6,200 as claimed by reports.
Undocumented immigrants in the United States Of America are facing mass deportation exercises following the inauguration of the Donald Trump administration.
The mass deportation exercise began immediately after Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration on January 20, 2025.
Trump has vowed to oversee the largest deportation programme in US history and has revealed criminals and gang members will be prioritised in such raids.
Meanwhile, the reports gathered from the Pew Research Center suggest there are approximately 11 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S.
