Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has received an ultimatum from traditional rulers of the Anlo Kingdom in the Volta Region to fish out the Member of Parliament (MP) who screamed “Daughter a Murderer, Sit Down!” in the House.
In their petition to the Speaker of Parliament and MPs who were initially suspected of being behind the comment, but later cleared of involvement, the Anlo chiefs have set a February 10 deadline for identifying the culprit.
According to them, the ability or inability of the Speaker to point out the MP will guide their next course of action.
The incident took place during parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday, February 4, when a male voice was heard shouting, “Daughter of a murderer, sit down! Daughter of a murderer, sit down!”
The incident happened as Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin addressed the House, urging calm amid heated debates over the 60th anniversary of Joseph Boakye Danquah’s death.
