President John Dramani Mahama yesterday revealed Ghana will need $ 1.7 billion to complete all unfinished Agenda 111 projects as there are so many unfinished Agenda 111 hospitals.

Speaking during a meeting with the Christian Council, John Mahama stated, “The previous government started Agenda 111 but has not been able to finish the hospitals. There are so many of them unfinished. Even the one they said they had commissioned there is nothing in it, just one hospital they finished the structure there is not even a single bed in the hospital.

“Now we need 1.7 billion US dollars to complete the Agenda 111 projects,” he lamented.

John Mahama further added, “If the missions have a hospital in an area, we are not coming to compete with the missions by building a hospital. We will use the resources to improve the mission hospitals so that they can provide the service.

“So I am also proposing that if some of the missions are interested, they could finish some of the hospitals and manage them”, he added.

The president further proposed religious bodies collaborate to help complete some of the delayed projects.

Speaking on AsaasePa FM, Dr  Anthony Nsiah-Asare detailed, “It $1.4 billion to complete all projects, not $1.7 billion, I don’t know where he got that figure from, that is the money they need to get and they can get that money.

If by God’s grace, we had won I have been saying it always…, Agenda 111 is the Ghana government for the district hospitals and the two psychiatric hospitals it is the government which will provide the money”, he added.

The former Presidential Advisor on Health added, “I have not mentioned any Regional Hospital, and I have not Accra Psychiatric Hospital that needs external funding, as we speak now the contractors five of them have already at the Ministry of Finance waiting for the debt restructuring”.

Meanwhile, Financial analyst and economist Scott Bolshevik has alleged that over $2b has been spent on the Agenda 111 hospital project yet none of the hospitals commissioned can operate.

Scott Bolshevik noted that Agenda 111 is no different from the National Cathedral scandal which is another cloaked act of corruption by the Akufo-Addo Bawumia administration.

According to the Financial analyst, the Agenda 111 hospital project is nothing but a grand scheme by the Akufo-Addo Bawumia administration to loot national resources.

Scott Bolshevik, known for his constant analysis of issues relating to Ghana on social media platform X, particularly on the Ghanaian economy, on his X page and wrote, “Agenda 111 is nothing but a grand scheme to loot national resources. Over $2 billion has been spent, yet none of the hospitals commissioned can operate.”

“This is no different from the National Cathedral scandal—another well-cloaked act of corruption by this government”, he added.

In the same vein a Fellow on Public Health at the Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Kwame Sarpong Asiedu has boldly said the Agenda 111 facilities President Akufo-Addo commissioned cannot be considered a hospital.

According to the CDD fellow, Akufo-Addo commissioned buildings, not hospitals.
