According to Shamima Muslim, the New Patriotic Party had Eight good years to prosecute some of these cases but failed to do so.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on Monday, February 10, Shamima Muslim detailed, “Eight good years, the New Patriotic Party had to prosecute some of these cases. Eight good years that they had a very favourable representation in our courts”.

“Excuse me to say, unfortunate, but we all know the perceptions around the packing of the court by former President Nana Akufo-Addo, and sometimes some of what people describe as procured outcomes from our courts”, she added.

Shamima Muslim further added, “If they had any case at all against these political opponents that were facing persecution through the instrument of our law courts, they would have secured prosecutions and judgments just as they did in previous tenures and jailed those individuals”.

“In the coming days, the Attorney General will disclose comprehensively the reasons and grounds on which those cases that have been discontinued have been discontinued”, he added.

She confirmed that President Mahama is not interested in covering up misconduct within his administration but in ensuring justice is pursued reasonably and effectively.

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an award-winning investigative journalist, has reminded President John Dramani Mahama that he promised Ghanaians an Operation Recover All Loot and not  Operation Clear All Looters (OCAL).

According to Manasseh Azure, Ghanaians deserve to know the basis for the government’s mass discontinuation of court cases against officials and associates of the previous Mahama administration.

He noted that the Attorney-General must not truncate prosecution just because he has the power to do so.

Manasseh wrote, “If the government clears all its party people standing trial, the people whose power the government exercises must be given sound reasons. Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) cannot succeed when its implementers are engaged in Operation Clear All Looters (OCAL)”.
